First played in 1871/72, the FA Cup is football’s oldest knockout competition. In recent years it has been marred by controversies surrounding fixtures congestion and fixture clashes with international matches. Wenger’s “Kids” famously won The FA Cup in 2003, defeating Southampton 1-0 at Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. Winners receive automatic entry into next season’s UEFA Cup competition.

The Leagues are the top competitive tiers in English football, each containing twenty teams. The Premiership is the highest level, followed by the Championship, League One and League Two. Below this, there are a number of regional and local leagues.

As the name suggests, “The World” is the biggest and most diverse playable area in Football Manager 2008. It consists of 50 fully licensed nations, each containing multiple leagues and divisions, making for a grand total of over 700 playable leagues.

In summary, Football Manager 2008 is a solid football management game that offers a lot of depth and detail. It’s not as easy to get into as some of the other games in the genre, but once you get the hang of it, there’s a lot to like.
